Personally, I never delete any footage because I end up using old footage all the time. I backup everything onto 2 big backup drives and get new once they fill up.

3 Key things to convince someone one to stick around for the video are Title, Thumbnail, Hook.  Need to make sure these are engaging and target your ideal viewer.

It changes.  Some months my products sell very well and other months I make more money from affiliate.  I think you should do a little of both depending on what your channel is about.  If its natural to talk about products that you can have an affiliate link to then add those in the description.  As for your own products always keep them in your descriptions and mention them in all your videos.  The key with having a successful business as a creator is having a variety of ways to make money because together they all add up to an income. Â
